Biography

The quality of service you receive from any organization ultimately depends on the qualifications of the people who deliver its services. This page provides some biographical information to help put your mind at rest about procuring services from Integrated Process Solutions, Inc..

Dr. Charles R. Myers, Jr., (Chuck, to most people who know him) is the owner of Integrated Process Solutions, Inc.  He personally conducts all training and consulting services provided by his company.  Here, briefly, is information regarding Chuck's qualifications, background, and experience.

Some Statistics

First, some pertinent statistics (since CMMI® models emphasize measurement). Chuck has taught some 250 official SEI CMMI® training courses of three days or more duration. When additional process implementation classes are considered (e.g., Mastering Process Improvement or Managing Technological Change), the number of  classes taught jumps to around 300.

Chuck has also taught many courses of his own design.  Among these are:

Very few people can come close to this level of experience.

SEI: Senior Member of the Technical Staff

Chuck joined the SEI as a full-time Senior Member of the Technical Staff in 1987, and he has been involved with capability maturity models and process improvement since that time.

His work as a full-time employee was focused on implementing process improvement--primarily addressing the human barriers and enablers associated with organizational change.

He consulted extensively with SEI clients, doing field research in this area, and his work (along with that of several of his colleagues) was incorporated into the IDEALSM Model. (He was the SEI's technical lead for advancing the model to its current version.)

Independent Business

Chuck established CRM Consulting, the predecessor of IPS Inc, in 1998, after spending eleven years at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) as a Senior Member of the Technical Staff.  At that time he had some personal and professional objectives that he couldn't pursue adequately as an SEI employee, so he became an independent businessman while continuing his association with the SEI as a visiting scientist.  He continues to work with the SEI in that role, primarily as an instructor for many of the SEI's advanced CMMI®-related training courses.

Previous to SEI

Chuck began his career as a Signal Corps officer in the United States Army after graduating from West Point in 1968.  He filled various command, staff, and instructional positions in Europe, South Viet Nam, and the continental United States during eight years of commissioned service.  He resigned his commission in 1976 to attend graduate school at Indiana University, where he earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.  He left the academic world to work in the aerospace industry for nearly nine years before being hired by the SEI.
