Process Implementation Process Training

The title of this page might sound a little redundant, but using an effective processes for implementing process improvement is as critical as it is for system development, acquisition, or service delivery.  We currently offer two process-related workshops, and we have a third workshop under development:

Accelerating Process Improvement Workshop

This workshop currently is under development and is targeted for release in early July of 2009.  Built around the SEI’s IDEALSM Model, it draws—and builds—on materials and techniques Dr. Myers has developed and used over the past 20+ years for CMM®/CMMI® training and consulting.

This workshop is about the process of doing process improvement.  As with all other endeavors, the quality of a product depends in large measure on the quality of the processes used for its design, development, implementation, and maintenance.  In this workshop you’ll learn how to apply an IDEALSM approach at every implementation level, be it maturity level, capability level, process, subprocess, process element, or process asset.

As with all our workshops, ample time will be provided in exercises for practical application of course material to participants’ individual needs and circumstances.

Please contact us if you’d like to participate in pilot offerings of this workshop.  We will provide substantially discounted pricing as our thanks for your assistance.

Process Improvement Foundations Workshop

This workshop provides key process improvement stakeholders with an opportunity to establish a solid foundation for their initiative.

Built around the IDEALSM Model’s Initiating Phase activities, it addresses fundamental issues that arise in organization after organization.  When these issues are adequately addressed, improvement work normally proceeds smoothly and effectively.  When ignored, progress tends to be slow and painful, and proceeds only with great effort and cost (if it proceeds at all).

Many implementation problems can be avoided if this workshop is conducted early in an initiative.  It is also effective for “back-filling” when less-than-effective initiatives have been in progress for some time.  Extensive time is devoted to activities and exercises, so participants have plenty of time to accomplish real and valuable work.  Much can be accomplished in two days so spent.

A more detailed information sheet for this workshop is under development.  It will be available shortly.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact us for more information.

Rapid Team Deployment Workshop

Process improvement, like nearly everything else in business, makes extensive use of teams.  A team is required any time a job requires the knowledge, skills, and abilities of more than one person.

Unfortunately, teams often take far longer than necessary to finish their work because team members don’t work effectively together.  They don’t work well together because key team and interpersonal issues haven’t been resolved.  Often, these issues aren't resolved because team members and their management aren’t aware of them.  But even when issues are recognized, staff members usually don’t know how to address them effectively.

Our Rapid Team Deployment Workshop provides a solid approach for addressing team formation issues.  In two days we guide you through a process that resolves most related issues before a team meets for the first time.

An added benefit for this particular workshop that the processes learned can be applied to forming any team (not just those that will be doing process improvement work).  The approach also can be used in support of IPPD implementation.

A more detailed information sheet for this workshop is under development.  It will be available shortly.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact us for more information.
